and ransom captive Israel
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.

to us the path of knowledge show

Holy God, we have before us the path that you have given.

More than that, Lord, we can see this path clearly because of the light

You have shined upon it.

And yet, we stray.   Forgive us.

And yet, we lose ourselves in anger.  Forgive us.

And yet, we wound and injure others.  Forgive us.

Have mercy on us, we pray, and forgive us our brokenness and our pridefulness.

We ask this in the blessed name of the One who is to come, Jesus, our Christ.
