Come, let us rejoice and give praise to God!
Come, let us lay down every burden as we give our hearts to the Lord in worship and love!

This day we come to worship God together. We come in love. We gather in hope. We open our hearts and our spirits to God and to all who seek to walk in love. So come, let us rejoice in the love we have for one another. Come, let us give thanks for the beauty of this day! And come, dear friends, let us join our hearts in praise and celebration of God’s great work through Christ Jesus our Lord!

Sisters and brothers, the truth is that we all have something we need to confess. Each one of us is carrying the pain, the burden and the sorrow of our mistakes and our misdeeds. Each one of us is in deep need of God’s forgiving and amazing grace. So let us go you and I. Let us go to the Lord in prayer. Let us give our burdens and our struggles to the One who can hold it all, our Sovereign God! Come, let us pray.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Nora Tallent
Holy God, our hearts open before you in prayer on this day. Our spirits reach for you in wonder on this day. And on this day , Lord, we come humbly to confess our many sins and errors. You know, blessed love, that we are far from prefect. You know, Holy Spirit, that we are wounded and hurting. And in the light of your knowing, we come to confess it all. Loving God, we have done and said things that hurt and wound. We have hardened our hearts so that we can ignore the plight of the poor. We have, in all honesty God, not been the church you call us to be. Have mercy on us, we pray. Forgive us for our own narrow wants and desires and open our hearts to the needs of all people. Help us we pray to see that when anyone suffers, we all suffer. Teach us how to risk great things for your magnificent purpose and in it all, Lord, we ask for forgiveness.. Hear our prayer we beseech you, in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Today we return after many months to our sacred space, to our sanctuary to join together in worshipping God. This is a day of thanksgiving, a time of hope, a moment of wonder.So Come, one and all, and let us give our hearts to God in this time of praise and celebration.

Come, let us cease our worship of the things of the world. We do not need them.
Let us lay aside our desire for wealth. Let us step away from our yearning for control.
Let us turn from the power of this world so that we may fully embrace, fully worship our God, the God of Creation, the God of love, the God who comes to us in Christ Jesus. Come, let us worship together.

Holy and marvelous God, we come before you this day with a deepening awareness of
our lives and our actions. We know, and we confess that we do not always speak and act with
the power of love. Sometimes, Holy Spirit, we allow ourselves to be motivated, not by your holy thirst for justice, but by our own shallow desires. Sometimes, Lord Jesus, we allow ourselves to be overcome by anxiety, cynicism and fear. And when this happens, God, we are nowhere near the path you have laid out for us in Christ Jesus. Call us back, we pray. Forgive us for our wandering minds and hearts. Have mercy on us for our never-ending selfishness. Bring us anew to the challenge and joy of building your Christian community in this place, and push us into the future with a renewed sense of love and hope. We ask this and pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, AMEN.

Now is the time to lay our burdens down and seek the wonderful power of God as we worship together. Come, let us release our fears, our doubts and our woundedness and gather in the power of the Holy Spirit as God’s people.

our hearts in Christian love;

Hear our Confession, we pray, Oh Lord. We know, deep in our hearts that we are not the church you would have us be. Forgive us, we pray. Call us to a new faithfulness that goes deeper than we have gone before. We know, deep in our hearts, that we too often ignore the plight of the poor and turn away from injustice. Forgive us, we pray. Walk with us into a spirit of courage so that we may be healers and bringers of justice. And we know too, Lord, that we have often allowed our own selfish desires to rule our lives. Forgive us, we pray. Teach us to put others first, and to live into the promise of self-giving love. Hear this our confession and fill us with a new spirit of power and love. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.
